Veteran Serviceman's Medal

Established - November 20, 1967
Composition - Copper-Nickel alloy
Number Awarded - 69,000

This medal was awarded to members of the militsia (police), both officer and enlisted, who were serving as of November 21, 1967.  It was also issued to militsia members (including retired and reserve) who had 25 years of blameless service.

The ribbon was awarded with the medal, and was worn when the full medal was not authorized (such as on off-duty uniforms).

50th Anniversary of the Soviet Militsia

Established - May 20, 1976
Composition - Nickel Silver, Tombac, and Enamel
Number Awarded - 880,000

This medal was awarded to servicemen of the Soviet Army, Navy, Frontier Guards, and MVD troops for impeccable service in the Armed Forces of the USSR for a period of 25 or more years.

They are awarded in the name of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet by the Minister of Defense, Minister of the Interior, or by the Chairman of State Security depending on the branch of service of the recipient.

The ribbon was awarded with the medal, and was worn when the full medal was not authorized (such as on off-duty uniforms).
