Kresta Class Cruiser / Project 1134
in Pictures (part 2)

This section is dedicated to additional pictures of the 'Kresta' class / Project 1134 cruisers.  We would like to point out that all of our pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the Kresta was in active service.

A Kresta I during the Okean-70 exercise

A Soviet Kresta class cruiser (hull number 561) steams through the Sea of Japan during the world-wide naval exercise Okean-70.  This photo was taken from the USS Coontz, a guided missile frigate of the U.S. Navy while on patrol in the region.

A pair of photographs of the 'V. Chapaev'

These two pictures were part of a series taken by a NATO aircraft of the Kresta II named after the Bolshevik hero Chapaev.  The two photos do not match up precisely due to the fact that the aircraft was moving when they were taken.  Even so, many of the details can be seen: missile launchers, torpedo tubes, the helipad, and sensor arrays.  These pictures were taken in the Spring of 1985.
