Specialized Field Gear of The Afghanistan War Period (1979-1991)

This section contains specialized field gear that was in use by the Soviet military during the time of the Afghanistan war.  In it you will find armor vests, mine detectors, gas masks, and flight gear.  Some of this equipment was developed in response to the Soviet experience in Afghanistan, while other pieces of gear were the result of trying to keep up with the West in the European theatre of operations.  Additional pieces of field gear will be added as they are acquired.  In any case we will attempt to place descriptions of each item along with detailed photographs.
