Victor Class / Project 671
Nuclear Powered Submarine
in Pictures (page 1 of 2)

This section is dedicated to pictures of all variants of the 'Victor' class nuclear powered submarine.  The pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the submarine was in active service.  All of these pictures were taken by the United States Navy during the Cold War.  Hopefully some Soviet pictures will be made available soon for us to display.

Running on the surface

Here we have a Victor III submarine cruising along the surface.  Water can be seen streaming out of the many free flood holes running down the length of the hull.  The large blister for the towed sonar array can also be seen at the top of the tail fin.  This picture was taken on 31 March 1989.

An Overhead View

This picture of a Victor class submarine was taken by a US Navy F-14 equipped with a TARPS recon pod.  It clearly shows hull panels, hatches, antennae, and other features of the vessel.

A Victor in the South China Sea

In this photograph you can see a close shot of the bow and tower of a Victor submarine as it cruises through the South China Sea.  This picture was taken by the US Navy on 20 April 1974.

Victor I and Ka-25

This picture taken in March 1984 shows a Soviet Victor I submarine and a Ka-25 'Hormone' helicopter somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.
