Delta Class / Project 667B
Ballistic Missile Submarine in Pictures

This section is dedicated to pictures of the 'Delta' class nuclear ballistic missile submarine.  The pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the submarine was in active service.  More pictures will be added as they are obtained by the Foundation.

Delta at Murmansk

In this picture you can see a side view of a Delta submarine as it pulls into port near Murmansk.  The picture was taken some time in 2002.

The 'Ryzan' in port

This is a close up picture of the Delta IV named 'Ryzan' as it rests in port at a submarine base near Murmansk.  This photo was taken in 2002.

The 'Novomoskovsk' in port

Here is another picture from the submarine base near Murmansk.  This photo is of the  'Novomoskovsk', a Delta IV that launched a communications satellite on July 1998.  Its fleet number is K407.  Another Delta is visible in the background.

The 'Karelia' and 'Verkhoturie' in port

Below you can see two pictures of Delta IV submarines as they rest side-by-side in port.  The submarine names are clearly visible on the boarding ramp.  What is interesting is that one of the boats is resting lower in the water than the other - most likely because one is missing its missiles.  If you look carefully between the two pictures you can see parts of a GAZ-66 truck.  Both of these photos were taken near Murmansk in 2002.

Coming Home

Here we have a picture of a Delta IV submarine of the Northern Fleet coming into port after a patrol.  Like many of our other pictures this one was taken in 2002 near Murmansk.

The 'Ryzan' in Port

In this picture you can see another picture of the 'Ryzan' in port as it undergoes routine maintenance.

You can see the sailor wearing a life preserver as he goes about the task of painting the hull of the submarine.  You can see the freshly painted sections of the boat and even the sailor's paint bucket by his feet.

Also visible in this picture is the St. George's Cross flag flying from the top of the sail.
