'Charlie' Class / Project 670
Attack Submarine
In Pictures

This section is dedicated to pictures of the 'Charlie' Class nuclear guided missile submarine.  The pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the submarine was in active service.  Most of these pictures were taken by the United States Navy during the Cold War.  Hopefully some Soviet pictures will be made available soon for us to display.

The Charlie in Color

Here we have a hard to find color picture of a Charlie class submarine underway.  It was taken by the US Navy, but no location or date was given.

Another view of the Charlie I SSGN

This is another picture of the Charlie I shown above.  Like the previous picture it was taken on 15 February 1983 by the US Navy in the Pacific.

A close up view of a Charlie I

In this picture you can see many hull details of the Charlie I nuclear powered submarine.  Also visible is the tarp used to shade members of the crew on the observation deck, and several of the sensor masts.  This picture was taken by the US Navy on 18 October 1982.  No location was given.
