'Internatsional' Class Tanker
in Pictures

This section is dedicated to pictures of the 'Internatsional' class tanker.  We would like to point out that all of our pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the tankers were in active service.  More pictures will be added to this section as they are obtained.

The 'Internatsional Merkr' alongside a Kresta II

In this picture you can see the size difference between the tanker and the cruiser alongside it.  This picture was taken somewhere in the Pacific Ocean by the US Navy on 13 June 1982.

A closer look at the superstructure

Here we have another picture of the same incident, but with a greater magnification.  Note the life boats on the 'Internatsional Merktr' and the other small details such as the porthole placement and crewmembers on both it and the Kresta.

The stern view of the 'Internatsional'

This low contrast picture shows the stern sections of both the Kresta II and the International Merktr.  Notice how bright the tanker is in the picture compared to the subdued gray of the Kresta.  If you look carefully you can make out the International's name on her stern.  You should also notice the open hatches on the tanker's upper decks behind the stack.  These and many other small details can be found by careful examination.  As with the other two photos on this page, it was taken by the US Navy somewhere in the Pacific Ocean on 13 June 1982.
