Mi-1 'Hare' Helicopter
in Pictures

This section is dedicated to pictures of the Mi-1 'Hare' helicopter.  Through these photographs it is hoped that a clearer understanding of this aircraft and the men who flew them can be gained.  These photographs are those that the Sword of the Motherland Foundation has acquired in our collection.

The Mi-1 "Hare" pilots and ground crew.

In this photo you can see a close up view of the Mi-1 'Hare' helicopter as well as another example in the background.  Also visible are the two pilots (on the lower right wearing M-1955 summer weight uniforms) and the four ground crew members (inside the helicopter and on the lower left of the photo).  Based on the uniforms the photo may have been taken in the late 1950's or 1960's.  No location was given with the photo.

Mi-1 'Hare' Pilot

This photo is part of the above series.  Here you can see a pilot of the Mi-1 'Hare' wearing an early parachute harness (and sitting on his main chute).  He is wearing a ShL-50 or ShL-58 leather helmet and the M-1955 summer pilot uniform.

Like the picture above, this photograph was likely taken in the late 1950's or 1960's.

Part of an other Mi-1 'Hare' can also be seen in the background though partially obscured by the pilot's head.
