BMD-20
200mm Multiple Rocket Launcher in Pictures

This section is dedicated to pictures of the BMD-20 200mm multiple rocket launcher.  Here you will be able to find photographs of the vehicle that the Sword of the Motherland Foundation has acquired in our collection.  The pictures we have below are authentic and were taken at the time the vehicle was in active service.  More photographs of the multiple rocket launcher will be added here as they are obtained.

Reloading the BMD-20

Here is a photo of four members of the BMD-20 crew reloading one of the 200mm rockets.  The rocket body and its four tail fins are clearly visible.  The reloading arm extending behind the rocket launching frame can also be seen.  Another interesting detail are the spiral rails inside the launcher frame which imparts a spin onto the rockets.  Also note the two stabilizers and the elevation wheel at the rear of the vehicle.  Notice the rifle on the back of the nearest soldier - an SKS semiautomatic rifle.  This weapon wasn't in front line service with the Red Army for very long so it can be used to give an approximate date to the photo as no date or location was listed on this Soviet era photograph.  It was likely taken in the mid-1950's.
