The Front Sight and Barrel Notch

The front sight of the RPG-2 is a simple stamped metal leaf that is flipped up when the weapon is to be aimed and fired.  The picture at right shows the sight in the down position.  Below you can see the sight in the up position.

When loaded the PG-2 round is rotated into place.  To properly line the primer of the rocket motor with the striker it is fitted into this notch at the end of the barrel.  PG-2 rounds have a metal pin to enable this.  Both the notch and pin can be seen at the bottom right.

The Rear Sight

This section features pictures of the RPG-2's rear sight.  It is a simple stamped metal leaf that is folded up when used, or down when the weapon is being stored or carried.  Below you can see the rear sight in both positions.

The picture to the right shows the proper sight picture for an RPG-2 firing at a target some 50 meters away.

To the left is a close up of the rear site markings.  They are very difficult to make out so we decided to highlight them.  Each bracket is marked for the corresponding range.  The top bracket is marked '150', the middle one marked '100', and the bottom one is marked '50'.

It should be remembered that hitting anything at farther than 100 meters is very difficult, especially with any degree of wind.

The Sling and its Attachment Points

The sling of the RPG-2 is very simple.  It is made of canvas and attached to the weapon by means of two leather toggles.  It can be seen in the picture to the right.

Below you can see what the two sling slots look like with the sling attached.  The picture on the left is a close-up of the front slot, while the one on the right is a picture of the rear sling slot.

The two photographs below show the same sling slots with the sling run through it.  They are excellent close ups of the sling attachments.  The picture on the left is of the front sling slot, while the picture on the right is of the rear one.

The Ammunition Pouch

The specialized ammunition pouch for the RPG-2 is shown here.  It is made of reinforced canvas and is quite sturdy.  To the right you can see the pouch as it appears when it is closed.  Below you can see what it looks like when it is opened, along with three PG-2 rockets.

The bottom right photo shows a close up of where the rocket motors are stored (in the small covered compartments.
