Red Army Badges
(1941-1945)

This section covers some of the many badges that were awarded to members of the Red Army. Naval badges will be covered in another section. In each case we will attempt to give a full history of each badge when possible, and a general description at the very least. The selection of badges we have to view is very limited at present and is listed below.

Excellence Badges

This series of badges was established in 1942 and given to soldiers who had performed their duties well.  The series was later expanded to include many different military functions including pilot, mortarman, submariner, and baker.  In all there are over a dozen different badges with many variations.
