M-1939 with shield and crew

This photograph is a rare early version of the M-1939 anti-aircraft gun where the weapon still has the 100 kilogram shield attached.  While this was to give the crew a degree of protection, it was most often removed to save weight.  No date or location was given with this Soviet era photo.

 

 

The crew of an M-1939 gun

Here is a good picture of some Russian soldiers relaxing around their air-defense gun.  The ammunition feed mechanism can be easily seen in this photograph.  This picture was taken some time during the Great Patriotic war.

   

 

An M-1939 gun at the 1st anniversary

This is a photo of an M-1939 gun on parade in Zanzibar during the first anniversary of the revolution in Tanzania in 1965.  It was taken by Keystone Press Agency.
