In this section we will discuss the orders and medals of Imperial Russia during the Great War. Documentation, when available, will be pictured along with the medals themselves. Currently we only have a few medals of this time period for you to see, but more will be coming soon.

St. George's Medal - 4th Class

Number Awarded -

This four class award was created by order of Tsar Nicholas II.  They were awarded to soldiers whose deeds were brave and heroic, but not considered worthy of a St. George's Cross.  The front of the medal features the portrait of the Tsar, while the inscription on the reverse says 'For Valor'.

The award was issued to both officers and NCO's by the Provisional Government in 1917.  It would also be awarded by the White forces during the Civil War.
