This section is dedicated to pictures of the protected cruiser Askold. The pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the ship was in active service. These are real pictures that we hope to get more of, especially ones of the ship before it was damaged.
Photos of the Askold in Shaghai These are pictures of the Askold after being damaged in August 1904. It escaped and made it to Shanghai where she was interned until the end of the war. It was in this way that she escaped the battle of Tsushima. You can see that two of her five stacks had taken very heavy Japanese fire. The picture on the previous page also shows only three of here five stacks remaining. |
